ABOUT US
Howdy!
Cowboy Bob and Gypsy Dust is Montana's premier Cowboy Band. They play authentic original and traditional Western Music in a style referred to as Western Swing.
Cowboy Bob is an authentic cowboy who grew up on a ranch and who has worked as a cowboy at various times throughout his life.
Over his music career, Cowboy Bob had many “firsts” including:
Playing original and traditional Western Music at the very first National Western Music Festival in Tucson, Arizona.
Performing original and traditional Western Music at the very first Montana Cowboy Poetry and Western Music Rendezvous in Big Timber, Montana.
There is a difference between Western Music and Country Music. Western Music has its roots in cowboy music and jazz, whereas country music has its roots in bluegrass and hillbilly music. The two types of music are different.
About half the music the band plays is original western music written by Cowboy Bob and the other half is traditional western swing music from the 1930s, 40s, and 50s by artists like Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and Bill Boyd's Cowboy Ramblers!
